Mission
The Region 17 ITV Network is a consortium of independent school districts and the regional education service center, formed to plan, coordinate and facilitate the cooperative development and operation of a regional integrated telecommunications network The network will enable members to better serve the population of the South Plains area of the State of Texas, to further the mission of its respective members, and to contribute to improved student learning and the overall educational and economic development of the region.

January 22nd & 23rd  
Stars & Seasons

As our Earth revolves around the Sun, our closest star, the seasons and our night sky change. We will learn about Earth’s rotation and orbit, the Sun, and some of the stars we can see at night.  

January 29th & 30th  
Astronauts & Our Solar System

Have you ever wanted to travel to outer space? We will take a look at our solar system and explore how scientists and astronauts are learning more about things that are out-of-this-world!

February 5th & 6th 
Earth’s Fast Changes

Erosion changes the landscape of our Earth slowly, but some things can change within a matter of minutes. We will discuss some of Earth’s fast changes including volcanoes, hurricanes, and more.  

February 12th & 13th 
Water Cycle

Did you know we drink the same water the dinosaurs drank? We will take a look at how Earth naturally recycles water through the water cycle, and how it is all powered by the Sun.

February 19th & 20th   
Earth, Ecosystems, & Survival

Our earth is incredibly diverse. We will examine different types of ecosystems and how plants and animals adapt and manage to survive in unique environments.  

February 26th & 27th 
Animal Kingdom

Let’s dive into the worlds of mammals, birds, fish, and invertebrates! We’ll explore what makes each group so unique from the others, and will even have special animal guests joining us. 

March 4th & 5th 
Severe Weather Awareness

Bad weather might be on its way. Let’s learn what to expect and how we can prepare ourselves and our families. Get a sneak peek at some of the activities we will have for the next Severe Weather Awareness Day at the Science Spectrum.

March 11th & 12th
Meet the Megalodon

Take a look inside the Science Spectrum’s spring exhibit, Megalodon: Largest Shark That Ever Lived. Learn about the highlights of the evolution, biology and misconceptions of Megalodon, an enormous prehistoric shark that once cruised all the world’s oceans. Look through full-scale jaws into a 60-foot-long Megalodon sculpture and begin to explore the story of this fantastic ancient creature – its size, structure, diet, lifespan, relatives, extinction, and the science that continues to reveal Megalodon’s tale. 

March 25th & 26th 
Reptiles & Amphibians 

From slithering to hopping, we will discuss the differences between reptiles and amphibians. We will take a closer look at some of the reptiles and amphibians here at the Science Spectrum.
We now provide an ITV Listserv where we send notices of content available over the ITV Network. We provide free access to Science Spectrum Virtual Field trips to ITV Consortium members and there are other many other sources of content that are both free and fee based.  Contact Matt Davis to be added to the ITV Listserv.
